Welcome to the Class Two!
Here you can find out what we have been up to in class recently and discover the topics we are learning about this year. If you scroll further down the page you will also find some general class information.
Class News & Information
This term in literacy, we have started looking at the book ‘Fox and the Star’ and have gathered some information on foxes. We have created a fact file about the foxes’ diet, habitat and appearance.
In science, we were focusing on learning that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited and we described how different habitats provide for the basic needs of different kinds of animals and plants, and how they depend on each other. We played a fun game identifying, naming and matching a variety of animals to their habitats, including micro-habitats.
The children constructed simple food chains and we linked this to our art lesson where we had lots of fun creating ‘under the sea shoe boxes’.
In literacy the children thoroughly enjoyed our work on poetry. We listened to and discussed a wide range of animal poems and we learnt to appreciate them and recite some by heart with actions. The children showed great enthusiasm and their fantastic performance skills including great articulation, expression and rhythm. As well as being great fun, performance poetry can:
• Deepen children’s understanding and love of poetry
• Develop speaking and listening skills
• Develop vocabulary and language comprehension
• Motivate all ability levels to engage with literature
• Develop self-confidence
• Develop social skills
We very much enjoyed our drama workshop too.
